The Crossbreed

Slight, silvery, grey coat
Black, long ears,
Height, more than a feet,
Short, stout legs
Silky, long body,
A bitch called  Doggie".

Bouncing & barking,
Up and down,
Tail held high,
Flapping  ears,
Happy smile,
A friendly dog.

Sly on the offside,
When mate outside gate,
Rubbing noses,as silent as stealth,
A treat to the  eyes.
Caught off-guard,
Bark worse than a bite,
A mystery yet  to  unearth..

I fell ill,
Doggie fell ill,
Equations changed,
Between doggie 'n'me,
Also with ones on the fringe,
Tempers flared,
With the ills battling it out.

Who to stay put,
Who to go out,
Not because
Love has gone out,
Fever and chill
Leaves no good thought.

"The Old Horse Dobbin" ,
Flashes through mind,
Though years be gone,
No difference beast or man,
Relevant also to the cross
Cocker Spaniel 'n Lhasa Apso.
